Too Busy to Exercise? Try This!

The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.–

Hello Educators!

Welcome to the TeacherFit Newsletter, a weekly newsletter providing practical tips and actionable steps that help you lower stress, increase energy and be your best self in and out of the classroom!

As an elementary teacher myself, I know that being a teacher is incredibly demanding. Finding time for yourself, especially for exercise, can seem impossible. But what if you could combine your workouts with everyday activities? Here are five practical ways to squeeze in some exercise while managing your busy schedule:

1. Workout While Watching TV

Transform your TV time into workout time! During your favorite show, try doing squats, lunges, or even a quick yoga session. It’s a great way to stay active without missing out on your favorite entertainment.

Consider investing in a walking pad. I have this one and really like it! It’s a great way to move when the weather is bad or you just want to be inside

2. Dance Party During Breaks

Turn up the music and have a mini dance party during your breaks! It’s a fun way to get moving and burn some calories. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to recharge and bring some energy back into your day.

3. Classroom Workouts

Use your classroom time to fit in some exercise. You can do quick stretches, calf raises, or even walk around the room while your students are working. This keeps you active without taking time away from teaching.

4. Use Household Chores

Household chores can be a great way to get moving. Turn vacuuming, sweeping, or even laundry into a mini-workout by adding in some lunges, squats, or calf raises. It’s a win-win: a clean house and a quick workout!

5. Exercise During Planning Periods

While planning lessons or grading papers, use short breaks to do some bodyweight exercises like push-ups, planks, and jumping jacks. These quick bursts of activity can keep you energized and focused.

Remember, every bit of movement counts. You don’t need to set aside a whole hour; even a few minutes here and there add up over time. If you need some extra motivation, consider setting a timer so you can see the end goal!

Taking care of your health is crucial, not just for you but for your students as well. By finding creative ways to stay active, you’re setting a positive example for everyone around you.
